Frequently Asked Questions
A. To run My Personal Minion, your computer should meet or exceed the following specifications
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP operating system (64bit version not supported)
- Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 1 ghz or equivalent
- RAM: 256mb
- Hard Drive: 100mb free space
- Sound: Sound device with microphone input
- Microphone (preferably noise cancelling)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
A. Windows Vista is not officially supported, but it MAY work. I do not have access to a Windows Vista computer to properly test this. If in doubt, please try the 7 day trial to test for compatibility before purchasing. Please note before purchasing however: I make no guarantees that this will correctly work (if at all) and will not be able to provide much (if any) help for problems with My Personal Minion on Windows Vista.
Q: Who is this program aimed at? What is the benefit of the product?
A: This product is aimed at people who have media centers or have their computers in a well placed situation and play movies or music from it regularly. It allows you to control media playback, ask for news reports, open programs, and also allows you to record a series of keystrokes to be played back on request.
Q: Commands aren't being recognised accurately. Either it misses my commands completely or picks up commands I am not saying.
A: Go into the options menu, and click "Speech Settings". Click "Train profile" and follow the instructions. For good recognition this should be done twice, although doing it more will improve accuracy further. If this has been done, press "Settings" in "Speech Settings" and adjust the "Pronunciation Sensitivity" slider. My Personal Minion will need to be closed and re-opened in order for these options to take effect.
Q: I would like x feature.
A: There will be an SDK available shortly allowing access to Text To Speech capabilities and allowing custom commands to be added. Please see the SDK Information Page
Q: I would like to talk and have all my speech typed into a document.
A: Unfortunately, free dictation is not within the capabilities of this program. The SDK will not help here either.
Q: I have a question/problem not answered in the FAQ or the manual.
